Senator Tony Lourey to Visit Zumbro Valley Health Center for Health Care Roundtable

Sen. Tony Lourey (DFL-Kerrick) announced that he will be meeting with regional health care community leaders in Rochester tomorrow to learn first-hand about how to move the Minnesota health care system forward. The meeting will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Zumbro Valley Health Center. 

Zumbro Valley Health Center Receives Innovation Award for CCBHC Model of Care

Zumbro Valley Health Center today announced it had received the Innovation and Community Collaboration Award from the Minnesota Association of Community Mental Health Programs (MACMHP). The organization was one of six across the state honored for successfully implementing the state's new Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic model.

Zumbro Valley Health Center and Camp Companion are collaborating to raise awareness of mental illness and the positive impact that pets have as part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Each year, more than 40,000 people die by suicide, many of whom have suffered from anxiety and depression.

DHS Commissioner to Visit Zumbro Valley Health Center As Part of CCBHC Launch

After nearly two years of planning and development, Zumbro Valley Health Center recently launched a new model to care for people with co-occurring or co-morbid conditions. This new model, called Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC), is part of a two-year project by the state.

Beth Krehbiel, RN, recently joined Zumbro Valley Health Center as chief executive officer. As CEO, Ms. Krehbiel is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations at the organization.

Crisis Response for SE Minnesota Not Impacted by Health Hotline Closing

The Crisis Response for SE Minnesota, a service providing phone support and mobile teams for people experiencing mental health crises, will continue to provide services to residents of SE Minnesota. This program is not affiliated with the Crisis Connection, which is discontinuing services due to financial issues.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Receives Major Grant from Bremer Trust

Otto Bremer Trust has awarded Zumbro Valley Health Center $100,000 to help support the organization's integrated care model. This funding will be used to expand the delivery of mental health, medical and chemical health services to the under- and un-insured populations in Southeast Minnesota.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Earns Meets Standards Seal

Zumbro Valley Health Center recently received the Meets Standards® seal from the Charities Review Council, an independent reviewer focused on ensuring standards of accountability for non-profit organizations. This three-year certification was achieved by successfully completing Charities Review Council's Accountability Wizard® review process.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Receives Donation to Enhance Services

Zumbro Valley Health Center today announced Rochester Area Foundation awarded the organization $13,500 to help provide peer support services to clients. This funding will be used on training and equipment for a new position.

Chief Executive Officer Announces Plans to Retire

Zumbro Valley Health Center today announced that Dave Cook, Chief Executive Officer, intends to retire from the organization July 7, 2017. The board of directors has begun its search for a replacment.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Receives Major Donation

Zumbro Valley Health Center today announced Mayo Clinic awarded the organization a substantial grant to support its integrated care delivery model. The funding will be used to expand the delivery of mental and chemical health, medical and care coordination services to the under-served populations in SE Minnesota. 

New Members Join Zumbro Valley Health Center Board of Directors

Zumbro Valley Health Center today announced that Kathleen Shaw, Allison Stanfield and Steve Thornton had joined the board of directors. Their three-year terms began effective January 23, 2017. 

Minnesota Selected as One of First States to Pilot Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics

Minnesota is one of eight states selected to pilot a new model of mental and chemical health care, called Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced. Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics are an innovative model designed to bring together behavioral, chemical and physical health care for people with mental and substance use disorders, and serve as a "one-stop shop" for both adults and children who have trouble getting the services they need.

2016

Zumbro Valley Health Center Selected for Practice Transformation Grant

The Minnesota Department of Health awarded Zumbro Valley Health Center a grant of $26,018 to support its integration of primary care, behavioral health and social service programs. Zumbro Valley Health Center was one of 10 organizations across the state to receive funding. 

New Leash on Life to Raise Awareness of Mental Health

Zumbro Valley Health Center, a not-for-profit organization that provides mental, chemical, dental and social services to under- and un-insured people across Southeast Minnesota, invites the community to participate in the 7th Annual New Leash on Life fundraiser. The event will be held at Rochester's Silver Lake Park on Saturday, September 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Zumbro Valley Health Center to Commemorate 10 Years Serving Homeless Population

Zumbro Valley Health Center will host a gathering of key providers in the state's ongoing efforts to reduce homelessness. This will include representatives from Zumbro Valley Health Center, Olmsted County and Hearth Connection, as well as numerous people who have benefitted from these programs.

Senator Franken Visiting Zumbro Valley Health Center to Discuss Integration of Care

Senator Al Franken will tour Zumbro Valley Health Center today and participate in a round-table discussion about integrating mental, chemical, medical and other key services. The discussion will include participants from Zumbro Valley Health Center, Wilder Research, Mayo Clinic, Olmsted County, Apple Tree Dental and Genoa, a QoL healthcare company.

Grant to Improve Transportation Options for Zumbro Valley Health Center Clients

The Operation Round Up Trust Board recently awarded $1,200 to Zumbro Valley Health Center to help access to treatment. The funding is being used to provide bus and taxi passes for clients without suitable transportation options.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Receives Major Grant from Bremer Trust

The Otto Bremer Trust recently awarded Zumbro Valley Health Center a $91,569 grant to help support Zumbro Valley's integrated care model. This funding will be used to expand the delivery of mental health, medical and care coordination services to the under- and uninsured populations in Southeast Minnesota.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Welcomes New Medical Director

Bernadette Huard, MD, recently joined the psychiatry staff at Zumbro Valley Health Center. Dr. Huard is a licensed psychiatrist with training in adult psychiatry. She has more than 30 years of experience working in community behavioral health settings.

2015

Integrated Health Care Pilot Produces Significant Savings

Zumbro Valley Health Center will present initial findings today on its integrated behavioral health-primary care pilot to area state legislators and county officials. The presentation will be at its main campus in Rochester located at 343 Wood Lake Drive SE.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Receives Circle of Excellence Award

Zumbro Valley Health Center today announced it had received the Commissioner's Circle of Excellence award from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The organization was one of seven across the state honored for its outstanding contributions to human services program clients.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Selected for Practice Transformation Grant

The Minnesota Department of Health recently awarded $26,294 to Zumbro Valley Health Center to support its integration of primary care, behavioral health and social service programs. This project is part of a $45 million State Innovation Model (SIM) cooperative agreement, awarded to the Minnesota Departments of Health and Human Services in 2013 by The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) to help implement the Minnesota Accountable Health Model.

Zumbro Valley Health Center Earns Health Care Home Certification from Dept. of Health

Zumbro Valley Health Center today announced it has earned Health Care Home Certification from the Minnesota Dept. of Health. This certification is the first of its kind for a mental health facility in the state of Minnesota.

Medica Foundation Funds New Treatment Model

Zumbro Valley Health Center has been selected to receive $50,000 from the Medica Foundation to help support Zumbro Valley's new primary care clinic. The funding will be used to expand the provision of medical and care coordination services to the region's underserved populations.

2014

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center to Change Name

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center, a leading provider of integrated health care services, announced today it is changing its name to Zumbro Valley Health Center effective January 1, 2015. The name change reflects the evolution of the organization over the past few years from a provider of mental health and substance abuse services into one that offers systematic coordination of general and behavioral health care. The name Zumbro Valley Health Center was selected to better encompass the range of clinical services - mental health, addictions, primary care, pharmacy and dental - now available to clients.

5th Annual New Leash on Life 5K Run/3K Fun Walk on Saturday

Spend your Saturday morning with some furry friends and help raise awareness of mental illness and the positive role that pets can play. The Fifth Annual New Leash on Life is set for Saturday, September 27, at Silver Lake Park. This event is held to help raise funds to support programs provided by Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center and Paws & Claws Humane Society.

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Adds New Medical Director

Leo Passov, MD, recently joined the staff of Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center. As medical director, Dr. Passov is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of psychiatric and medical practices and policies in the organization. He also will provide psychiatric services for adults along with prescribing and monitoring medications for new and existing cilents. Dr. Passov is currently taking appointments for psychiatric services.

Carl & Verna Schmidt Foundation Funds New Clinic

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center recently received $25,000 from the Carl & Verna Schmidt Foundation to help support Zumbro Valley's new primary care clinic. The funding will be used to provide medical and care coordination services to the region's underserved populations.

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Awarded MNsure Outreach and Enrollment Grant

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center, in partnership with the Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association and Health Access MN, announced today they are a recipient of a MNsure Outreach and Enrollment Grant in the amount of $117,000.  MNsure grantees include respected community organizations from across Minnesota.

Zumbro Valley Staff Trained in New Therapy Approach

Keith Gascho, LPCC, recently completed his training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a form of therapy designed to help people who have experienced trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder. The training was completed at the Mid-West Center for EMDR Training and Therapy.

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Implements Primary Care Services

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center recently launched a primary care clinic to enhance treatment options available to clients. Clinic staff will provide basic primary care services and collaborate with internal and external providers to develop integrated treatment plans that address each person's multi-faceted needs.

Report Shows Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Excels in Treatment for Depression

An independent researcher recently reported that Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center significantly exceeded state averages in the treatment of depression. The report was released by Minnesota HealthScores, an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to sharing fair, useful and trusted information about health care quality with all Minnesotans.

Zumbro Valley Certified as Essential Community Provider

The Minnesota Dept. of Health recently certified Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center an Essential Community Provider (ECP). This five-year certification recognizes health care organizations that serve high-risk, special needs and underserved people, and makes Zumbro Valley the only Rochester-based organization with this designation.

The Minnesota Association of Community Mental Health Programs (MACMHP) yesterday presented Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center and Apple Tree Dental with its Community Collaboration and Inter-Agency Cooperation – Partnerships award at its annual conference. This award recognizes partnerships that enable organizations to overcome barriers to service delivery and better meet the needs of clients.

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Adds Nurse Practitioner

Lisa Johnson, ARNP, joined the psychiatry staff of Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center today. Ms. Johnson is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with training in both adult and adolescent psychiatry. She is currently taking appointments for psychiatric services.

New Therapists Join Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center added three therapists to its staff to help provide treatment for the increasing number of people requiring psychotherapy services in the community. All are currently taking psychotherapy appointments.

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Adds New Psychiatrist

Jacqueline Teresa Dahl, M.D., recently joined the staff of Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center. Dr. Dahl is a licensed psychiatrist with training in both psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. She is currently taking appointments for psychiatric services.

Local Providers Host Forum to Discuss Changes in General Assistance Medical Care

Recent changes to General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC), the creation of coordinated care delivery systems to care for the GAMC population and the state’s decision to not enroll early in Medicaid have had significant effects for Minnesotans. A group of local patients, providers, non-profits, law enforcement and government agencies is meeting to discuss these decisions and educate the community on their implications.

Minnesota Behavioral Health Providers Form Collaborative to Implement Qualifacts EHR

The Southern Minnesota Electronic Medical Record Consortium has selected Qualifacts Systems, Inc., to provide an integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) and billing solution for the group’s four behavioral health provider members:

Community Discussion on General Assistance Medical Care News Release

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Receives Dual Diagnosis Enhanced Recognition from State News Release

The Minnesota Department of Human Services has named Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center’s Recovery Partners as a Dual Diagnosis Enhanced (DDE) program for the treatment of behavioral health disorders.  This program is the only one in the state to receive the enhanced classification.

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center Adds New Pet Therapy Option News Release

Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center is adding animal-assisted therapy to its outpatient therapy treatment services.  Beginning this week, clients will have the option of having Lexi, a six-year-old Samoyed, join appointments with therapist Kathryn Amundson, Ph.D.

Flood Recovery Partners Outreach Services to End News Release

Flood Recovery Partners, a program that provides triage and education services to residents in Fillmore, Houston and Winona counties, is phasing outreach services out for these counties effective November 16, 2008.
