Southeast Minnesota is a beautiful place to call home – especially if you live in a rural area. Although life in rural areas is abundant in many ways, one thing lacking is access to mental health services. This may be due to availability, affordability, or acceptability. Regardless of the reason, Zumbro Valley Health Center is proud to provide options for mental health services in rural areas.

Availability

Access to mental health services may be difficult for people living in rural areas. Most small communities do not have local mental health practices. Since traveling for regular appointments can be inconvenient or impossible, many people may live without proper support.

At ZVHC, we have a satellite location in Harmony, MN for onsite services. In addition, our services are available virtually to ensure that support is available when and where it’s needed.

Affordability

The most successful mental health services for long-term health are comprehensive. Regardless of insurance coverage, affordability can add a barrier to receiving the necessary mental health services.

At ZVHC, we ensure that no one will be denied access to health services due to the inability to pay. Our team is available to discuss payment and coverage options.

Acceptability

Like it or not, news travels fast in rural communities. The stigma that comes along with mental health needs can often create a desire to keep it a secret. If you need mental health support, it’s important to seek it out.

At ZVHC, we are continually providing education to break down the walls of the mental health stigma. Now and always, we will offer services where and when those we support are comfortable.

Mental health needs can arise in communities of any size. If you live in a rural community and need to be connected to resources, please reach out to our team at 507.289.2089.
