Are LGBTQ+ Mental Health Issues Common?

Every teen can struggle with mental health, but LGBTQ+ teens are more likely to struggle with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and self-harm due to mistreatment and stigma in society around the LGBTQ+ community. The Trevor Project offers a variety of insight into the statistics of mental health illnesses in the LGBTQ+ community. 73% of LGBTQ+ teens reported experiencing anxiety and 58% reported experiencing depression. The struggles of mental health for teens in the LGBTQ+ community is growing at an exponential rate, which is why we are working diligently to end the stigma and provide quality, accessible care for LGBTQ+ teens.

Is Getting Mental Health Support Easy?

When it comes to getting access to mental health care, it can be quite difficult at times. If you’re afraid of being exposed, worried about the cost of care, pressured by the stigma of having a mental health challenges, or just have a general fear of being misunderstood, we understand. Because of this, we work hard to provide quality and accessible care to our diverse community. However, we realize that it may be difficult to reach out for help and we are always here to help you through these difficult times, whether that is one-on-one or in a group program.

Does ZVHC Have Any Groups For LGBTQ+ Teens?

Are you a LGBTQ+ teen age 12–17? We offer both individual and group counseling sessions that can help you identify and address and all experience that have affected your mental health. We provide support during difficult life events and education about having healthy relationships and boundaries. Our goal is to offer a safe space for you to talk and feel seen and heard.

We work each and every day to create an inclusive atmosphere for all who need access to our services.
