About
I became a psychotherapist and substance use counselor because this work is endlessly fascinating to me. Humans are so complex and beautiful! I love to explore the mystery of why we do what we do, especially when we are suffering. It can be encouraging to learn that there are better ways of coping with the realities of life. It often involves making some big or small changes in our thoughts and behaviors. I want to support people who are making (or thinking about making) some of those changes.
Given the stigma around mental health issues and substance use, one of my goals is to offer a non-judgmental space in which clients can begin to heal. It is an honor to hear the stories of clients and accompany them as they find a way forward.
I believe that each individual is an expert on themselves. My role is to listen and learn so that I can best support their goals. Sometimes our ways of thinking or past patterns can get in the way of achieving those goals. I aim to help identify barriers and empower the client to live their best life. Small successes build on each other and can lead to increased confidence and renewed hope.
