About
Kari has been working as an outpatient therapist for the past two and a half years working with both adolescences and adults while focusing on cognitive behavioral approaches and bringing values and intention into people’s everyday lives using acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and person-centered approaches. Her past experience involves working with individuals and families in the community with a skills-based approach and crisis stabilization focus. She works with a wide population of people who may experience relationship issues, trauma related issues, life adjustment struggles, identity exploration, and mood disorders.
Kari works with individuals to realize their authentic self and become comfortable with holding themselves and other’s accountable by recognizing and enforcing boundaries and by challenging maladaptive behaviors and thought patterns. She meets the client where they are at whether that means someone needs a brain break and to have an hour to unmask and just exist with no judgement or to vent and unload while getting feedback and everything in between. No two people are the same and need the same thing so Kari works to treat everyone as the individual they are and to tailor the therapy approach to what will work with the person.
Kari brings her life experiences, humor, and direct approach into the therapy room to build connections with people and be someone that an individual can trust and confide in. Kari makes space for the realistic side of mental health that is annoying to maintain and never expects perfectionism or pure optimism from anyone that she meets in this line of work.
In her free time, you can almost always find Kari playing some kind of game or knitting while listening to a DnD playthrough podcast while ignoring her own prep work for her DnD campaign until the last moment possible.
