About

Kohl has experience working in residential and outpatient settings, where he has provided therapeutic and skills services to adults, families, and adolescents with trauma-related issues, relationship concerns, anxiety, panic, psychotic, and mood disorders.

He is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through an EMDRIA-approved training and uses this modality to treat concerns related to trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders. Kohl utilizes a variety of therapy modalities, including person-centered, solution-focused, DBT, and CBT approaches, though he primarily focuses on the role of the body and nervous system in mental health. He brings a mix of dry, sarcastic humor and a warm, compassionate, strengths-based approach to help people work through life stressors and trauma to reach the goals they want to pursue.

Kohl has a wide variety of hobbies and interests outside of work, including traveling, traditional sports and e-sports, tennis, running, puzzles, Legos, hiking, and playing saxophone in a local brass band.
