About
Kurt has experience working in outpatient and community settings where he provided therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults, families, couples, and groups with a variety of focuses including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, interpersonal skills, relational concerns, identity, life adjustments, anger management, mood disorders, and more.
Kurt is currently in pursuit of the LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) licensure. Kurt has passed his licensure exam and is now accruing hours under supervision to obtain his full independent license. He obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a minor in the Science of Coaching from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Kurt earned his Master’s of Science in Counseling and Student Personnel-Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Kurt works from a variety of therapy modalities including cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, client-centered, systemic, strengths-based, bibliotherapy, holistic, humanistic, narrative, play, rational emotive behavioral, reality, sand tray, and more. Kurt makes a conscious effort to center his therapeutic modalities and techniques to meet the specific client(s) he is seeing.
Kurt brings his authentic and genuine self into sessions. He is down to earth and finds a great balance of recognizing the significance of the situation at hand while adding a touch of humor at times to lighten the weight of the counseling session. Kurt strives to always be aware and considerate in his work with clients; he works to understand the person before collaboratively determining the direction of therapy. He is a life-long learner and expands his wisdom with each client he sees. Kurt is supportive and sees the best in people. He will challenge his clients to be the best version of themselves.
In his free time, Kurt enjoys spending time with family and friends, getting outdoors, exercising, reading, and traveling.
