About
Sam has more than five years of combined experience working in outpatient, residential, and community settings, providing shelter and housing services to people experiencing homelessness, rehabilitative mental health services, group work, and individual psychotherapy. He has experience working with symptoms from all diagnostic categories, but especially with Schizophrenia Spectrum, Depressive, Anxiety, and Trauma- and Stressor-Related Disorders.
Sam uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), parts work, and Components-Based Psychotherapy (CBP) to navigate problems and symptoms with clients. He integrates trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches. His special clinical interests include working with college-aged students, people experiencing homelessness, and people experiencing psychosis. Sam has also served in the reserve military for more than eleven years and integrates this lived experience into his work with veterans.
Sam brings his calm presence and authentic demeanor to his sessions. He focuses on cultivating a space where clients feel comfortable, safe, and able to just be themselves. He believes that therapeutic change happens through a strong therapeutic relationship, meaning-making, new identity formation, and challenging the narratives and stories that we’ve been told about ourselves.
In his free time, you’ll find Sam bowhunting, reading (a lot), cooking wild game, and sitting in the sauna.
