About
Tyler is a Clinical Trainee who recently earned his Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services and is working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). He has experience providing mental health support in residential, community, educational, and outpatient settings, working with children, adolescents, and adults facing a wide range of mental health concerns and life challenges.
Before transitioning to outpatient psychotherapy, Tyler spent several years working in behavioral health services, including serving as a Mental Health Practitioner and Program Supervisor within an Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program. In these roles, he supported individuals experiencing mental health disorders, co-occurring conditions, crisis situations, and challenges related to independent living. He has also worked with at-risk youth within the correctional sphere, high school students with developmental and behavioral needs, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His clinical training includes supervised individual therapy, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, group facilitation, and clinical documentation within a variety of mental health settings.
Tyler approaches therapy from a person-centered, strengths-based perspective, drawing primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while integrating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based approaches. He believes therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, individualized, and focused on helping clients build meaningful lives aligned with their values. His clinical interests include anxiety, depression, stress, identity development, trauma, and resilience. He is particularly interested in working with adolescents, athletes, veterans, and helping professionals, such as teachers, healthcare workers, and first responders.
As a former collegiate athlete and coach, namely in football and strength & conditioning, Tyler brings authenticity, humility, leadership, and a coaching mindset to the therapeutic relationship. He strives to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow. He views therapy as a partnership and is passionate about helping individuals identify their strengths and navigate their challenges, while encouraging them toward the lives they want to live.
Outside of work, Tyler enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing video games, watching movies, reading, drawing, following sports such as football, MMA, and hockey, hiking, working out, and constantly growing both personally and professionally.
